I’ve included a new social menu in Matheson Pro and Arcade. All of my future themes will offer this feature and I’ll slowly be retrofitting older themes so that they have it as well.
Creating a social menu is straightforward as long as you know your way around the WordPress Menus admin page.
First thing you need to do is “create a new menu”. Call it “Social” to make it easier on yourself. Now you can use the “Links” panel to add some social media site links.
Once you add a custom link in the admin, that link will be represented by an icon on the front end.
Here’s an example of a link to your Twitter page:
http://twitter.com/bavotasan
That link will be replaced with a Twitter icon in the menu.
Here’s a list of the available sites that work with the social menu:
- Google+
- Dribbble
- Github
- Tumblr
- YouTube
- Flickr
- Vimeo
- Bitbucket
With your menu created and your links added, the only other thing you need to do is to actually set your menu so that it is displayed in the “Social” theme location.
