I cannot find anywhere to upload an image for the forums! Am I missing something? I know this is very trivial, but would be nice to know how to do it like you and others have done. I swear I've looked everywhere, even under the kitchen sink! :)

The photos are actually taken from your Gravatar. Go to http://en.gravatar.com/ and sign up. This is actually a site run by the people who run WordPress, so it will work with every WordPress site you post or comment on.
