Hi, checked all my WP settings and theme settings and I still can't get the comments section to show up at the end of blog posts in Magazine Basic. Here's my site: http://www.ngostorytelling.com/. Any ideas for how I can fix this problem? Thanks!
I know the discussion settings are correct but what do you mean by post/page discussion settings? I don't see those settings within each post I write or each page I create. I also don't see those settings in the "Magazine Basic" settings under "Appearance." Do I need to customize one of the php files to allow comments to be seen on the front page? The comments don't show up on the front page but they show up if you click on the particular post. The only activated plugin is Jetpack by Wordpress.com.
For discussion settings in WP the only boxes checked are:
- Allow link notifications from other blogs (pingbacks and trackbacks)
- Allow people to post comments on new articles
- Enable threaded comments
- A comment is held for moderation
Thanks!
WordPress has a feature where you can turn comments on/off for each individual post/page. On the post/page edit screen, look in the top right for the Screen Options. Open the Screen Options panel and make sure the Discussion checkbox is checked. Then a panel will appear below the text editor and you can see if the discussions are on or off for that individual post/page.
Hello, thanks for the tip. I checked the Discussion checkbox and then checked "on" for the discussions for the individual post. Still, the comments section won't appear on the front page. What else can I try?
Thanks!
Hello, I still can't get the comments section to appear on the front page of blog posts in Magazine Basic. This is my website: http://www.ngostorytelling.com. Thanks for your help.
OK, I see I was using the wrong terminology.
I want a comment count at the end of each post on the front page. I followed the previous support forum discussion on this (http://themes.bavotasan.com/support/discussion/1010) but can't seem to put the proper code in exactly the right place.
Would you mind typing exactly where in the loop.php file I should be entering this code: "<?php comments_number('','1 Comment','% Comments'); ?>" - and am I supposed to enter the quote marks, too? Do I paste this code before or after the parentheses?
Thanks.
@laurapohl What theme are you using? Magazine Premium has the ability to turn on a number count under the Layout Options.
